Columbia Encyclopedia -- Be careful when you are at this site. If you try to retrace your steps after any long string of clicks -- it is easy to get lost. It was very difficult for us to find the referenced URL once we wandered away. There is a fee if you want to use the full site -- something like $30 / month -- or $200 / year. The link we are showing is only one way to use the site. It lists thousands of subjects. If you click on one subject, you get a dictionary or encyclopedia definition of that subject and links to articles that discuss various aspects of the word or phrase. On the first day we used this site on a 7-day trial-- it sometimes took a long time to get started and, in fact, "timed-out" twice. I doubt if I we will continue to pay to use the site. By the way, there are about 4000 articles clickable from the letter "A",
or something over 50,000 articles on the site.

Condo vs. Co-op -- The link briefly explains the difference between the two. There are considerable legal differences that would be considered minor by most people -- but you can be sure that lawyers would say those differences should be understood before you enter into a contract for either. In general, if you buy a condo -- it is very much like buying real estate -- the ownership records will be recorded in your county. If you buy a co-op, it is very much like buying shares in a public corporation. In both cases, your legal rights are spelled out in a contract and are governed by State and Federal Laws.
One enormous difference is that in most co-ops, the co-op owners have the right to accept or reject applicants for ownership -- but in condominiums -- the owners are closely controlled by federal and state real estate laws and the owners can't arbitrarily turn down applicants. Another significant practical difference is that (a) HUD will approve government insurance for reverse mortgages on manufactured homes in coops, but (b) HUD will not approve
government insurance for reverse mortgages on manufactured homes in condominiums. It apears to this writer (Martin R. Carbone) that the (a) and (b) of the previous sentence is unjustified by reason or logic and probably violates the intent of the federal laws governing banks and real estate loans.

The CURVULATOR (tm) is a set of 12 curved scoring slots molded in one piece of sturdy 1/8" thick clear plastic ... 7 3/4" x 10 1/2" overall. Use it for making circular curved scores at 1" intervals from 2" to 13" diameter. Can make the curved scores on boxes like those shown below as well as other decorative shapes. A scoring tool is shipped with every Curvulator. By the way, the scoring tool is useful as a folding bone and the larger end can be used to score corrugated cardboard. You can draw windows, doors and siding by hand and copy them on to label paper -- cutting them out applying them wherever you like.

You can, of course, do the drawing on a computer and print out the architectural details with your printer on label paper. This technique make wonderful models to any degree of sophistication.

Another building on a box. This is a model of a real diner in Harrison, NJ. My grandfather worked here before he
had his own diner built in Newark, NJ.

Here are my grandfather and grandmother in front of "Busse Grill" the diner they had built in Newark. Their daughter, Helen, was a waitress there. My mother met my father, a local milkman, there (1929) when he came in for early morning coffee before going on his route.
